Dams and Levees Information
Dams and levees are a way to help mitigate flood risk. However, they are not always reliable. We’ve witnessed levee breaks during storms that caused massive flooding. Levees and dams require maintenance and repair. A recent Associated Press report identified at least 1,680 US dams to be a potential risk.
